Last False Hope was cooked up by Jahshie P. A long time veteran in the Chicago music scene, best known as the former frontman of Failed Resistance, My Vengeance and later, Neverland. In the past few years, Jahshie P. developed an intense interest in country western and blue grass music, along with his new found passion; the mandolin. Come the Summer of 2009, his new skills began to translate into songs. Quick to the draw, they set forth to include a track for the Outlaw Radio Compilation, volume one. To fill in the blanks, they recruited Producer, Shawn Connors, best known as the drummer of death metal band, Bound And Gagged and later, Jashie P.'s band mate in Neverland, as well as a number of other fly-by-night acts.

To fill in the line-up, Josh brought in former, My Vengeance, bandmates, Steven Stepien on drums and David Wiegers, whom had, also, played guitar and contributed backing in Neverland, to the band. Arcadia Kust on fiddle, Sean Moriarty on guitar and Dave Beneventi on bass from a local irish punk act, The Fisticuffs joined to round out the line-up. This incarnation of the band would go on to record "Two Dollar Pints" for the comp. Over the course, of roughly, the next year, the seven of them would go on to write more songs and play several shows Come September 2010, they re-enlisted Shawn Connors to begin work on the debut EP, "The Shape Of Blue Grass To Come." Four songs, "Giving Up God For Lent," "Drag Me To Hell," "You Drink, You Drive, She Wins" and "Dying and Diseaed" would make the final cut. The recording would feature guest performances by Stza from Star Fucking Hipsters/Leftover Crack/Choking Victim, Rachel Brooke and Jayke Orvis. The EP was released on March 1st through Pint Of Happiness Records and later, distributed by Jahshie P's own, Solitary Records.

After the conclusion of the "The Shape of Blue Grass To Come" sessions, Sean, Arcadia and Dave B. parted ways with the band. Longtime Producer, Shawn Connors, joined to fill the open guitar position and also, contributes back up vocals. A friend of a friend, Colleen Mary, another new comer to the Chicago music scene, joined on fiddle. Scott Farruggia, also from Bound And Gagged and Neverland would join on electric bass. The new line-up was debuted on a track for the Southern Independent, volume one compilation, titled "Guilty Until Proven Innocent." October 2011 saw the release of a versus split with Nellie Wilson & the Hellbound Honeys on Solitary Records. The release included the bands most brutal and bizarre effort to date in "Darkest Days," as well as covers from LP, "Taking the O out of Country." The A-side of the split includes Nellie's renditions of l/f/h tunes "Two Dollar Pints," "Dying and Diseased" and "Outlaw Girls." In May 2012, Ian Booyaki, formerly of Highlonesome, joined the band, on Stand-Up Bass. After over a year of dedicated service, Scott departed from the band to focus on work, but has remained an unofficial eighth member, performing as an understudy on occasion.

Since their inception, l/f/h have performed at the 2011 + 2012 Muddy Roots Music Festivals, as well as the the Big Blowout Fest Music Fest and Car Show, and have shared the stage with the likes of Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School Of Medicine, Star Fucking Hipster, World Inferno Friendship Society, The Business, Joe Buck, Bob Wayne, Those Poor Bastards, Hackensaw Boys, Slim Chance & the Can't Hardly Playboys, Hillbilly Casino, .357 String Band, Hellbound Glory, The Goddamn Gallows, Rachel Brooke, Viva Le Vox, The Sawyer Family, Highlonesome, Shovels and Rope, Old Red Shed, Mikey Classic of the Goddamn Gallows, Six Gun Britt, and James Hunnicutt. They were also, named the Best Country Band by the Chicago Reader "Best of Chicago 2011 + 2012" reader's polls. They are, currently, crafting new material for their debut full length, which they are hoping to finish by the end of 2012. The infamous, Shooter Jennings is slated to produced.
